Bieber, Doreen A., - 84, of Hollywood, Florida passed away peacefully at home on January 16th, 2025. A long time resident of Margate, N.J., she moved to Florida in 2017 after many years of spending winters in Lauderdale by the Sea. Born in Liverpool, England to the late William and Flora Audley on June 19th, 1940. Like many children during World War II, she and her sister Sylvia were evacuated to a farm in southern England to live in safety until the war in Europe was over. Doreen was a member of the Yogi Beer Social Club, which saw Skiffle Bands, the music of the Folk Revival, and Blues Boom at the famous Cavern Club and others in Liverpool in the 1950s, a predecessor to the British Invasion of America. She emigrated to America at 19 years old, and worked as a nanny for a wonderful family in Long Island, New York. She moved to Ocean City, New Jersey to live and work at a beachside hotel managed by her Aunt Una and Uncle Fred. Later she lived in Atlantic City and finally settled in Margate while she worked in the Business Office of the Telephone Company for nearly 10 years. Doreen met Charlie Bieber at The Beach Club in Margate, and they eventually married in 1964. She became a vegetarian in 1970, was very active in the Stop Nuclear Power Movement, Solar Energy, The Food Co-Op of Pleasantville, Organic Gardening, The Avian Rehabilitation Center of Seaville, she volunteered, and was a part of the Power Squadron. Later, she worked at Showboat Casino in Atlantic City in a variety of roles for over 10 years. While working full time, she also worked closely with Charlie in his custom home building business. She was instrumental in design, accounting, and final cleaning of various home projects. Doreen was very creative, artistic, crafty, intelligent, funny, sewed all of her own clothes and costumes for parties and Halloween, and she helped to rehabilitate countless injured and baby birds in South Jersey. She is survived by her son, Kurtis, niece, Alexis, and nephew, Eric. Remembrances will be held privately in Florida with family and friends.
