The "Chief" was always that. I never called him Jim, only Mr. Creaghe when he hired me in 1969. During his tenure, he brought professionalism to our department. Always honest and caring, he guided the men to do their best for the citizen's of Margate. With a joke, or with tears when Sgt Himber died, he instilled integrity and honesty to all who worked for him. Mercy on his soul and may Saint Michael keep watch over him now.

Chief Creaghe was a fine police officer..one of the most dedicated I ever knew. It was my honor to work in the field during his time. Margate has lost one of their very best.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Jim Creaghe's passing. I worked for him for five years in the early 1970's. As my chief, he taught me many values ind instilled ideals I never would have found on my own. Jim Creaghe was a fair and honest man and treated his men that way. There were no women in the office other than Gladys and Sis. Jim ran the P.D. with no political agenda during a time when politics were very much alive in the city and in the hearts and minds of many of the city employees and commissioners.
Jim praised us when we were right, corrected us when we were wrong and guided us when we needed direction.

Bless Jim and his family!

As a third-grader at Granville Ave. School in the mid 1940's, I had a "crush" on handsome Officer Creaghe, as did my friends. After a heavy rainstorm, as always, the street at the school flooded. I was quite thrilled, one rainy AM on my way to school when Officer Creaghe "swooped" me up and carried me across to a dry corner at the school. My friends and I giggled about this all day! I have always had this memory from my childhood. Thank you, Officer Creaghe, for this memory--Peace and love to you and your family.
