James Reed Obituary



REED, JAMES B., 71 - of Manahawkin, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Dunellen and a former resident of Branchburg and Readington, James resided in Manahawkin for the past eight years. He was a pipefitter with Merck Co. of Rahway for 17 years until retiring in 1997. He served a peacetime enlist in the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was a former communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church in Three Bridges. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time on his boat. He was an avid Giants fan who enjoyed golfing and working along side his sons, Jim and John. James was a very giving and generous person to all, who placed everyone before himself. He was preceded in death by a brother Henry in 2004. Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Cortese Reed, two loving sons, Jim and daughter-in-law Amanda of Stanton, John and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Flemington, his loving daughter, Carol DeCicco and son-in-law Jim of Hanover Township, his cherished grandchildren, David, Manuella, Allison, Isabella, Joseph and Natalie, a dear brother, Thomas and sister-in-law Sigrid of Spring Hill, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin Monday with a prayer at 10:30 am at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway south, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 followed by an 11:15 am funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges. Interment will be in the St. Magdalen's Cemetery, Flemington. Visitation hours are Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at the funeral home.
