Joel, AKA "Average Joe", was born in Atlantic City, on December 22, 1955, to Joseph C. and Isabel (Braithwaite) Clarke. He departed this life suddenly on Monday, June 17, 2024.
Joel was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Edgar Nurse and his sister, Lucille Arnold.
He is survived by sisters, Ermie E. and Eunice I. Clarke; brother, D. Mark Clarke; nieces, great nieces, a great nephew and a host of cousins and numerous friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Jennings Funeral Home, where friends may call from 10 a.m. Burial in Atlantic City Cemetery. www.jenningsfuneralhome.net.

Ermie, Eunice and Mark. I am sending my belated sympathies after learning of Joel's seemingly, untimely demise. I am sorry that I was not able to be.present with you for the services; for I was with the Golden Circle on a 9-day southern African American tour. Joe will always be remembered for our high school ventures. We were privileged to sing in the choir being selected to participate in (the then) Stockton State College's opening ceremonies and then travel with the choir to Montreal on an exchange concert tour. He was funny, carefree, unassuming and didn't take life too seriously--for he did it "his way ". God bless you all.

To The Family of My Dearest Old Friend, I am in shock of Joel's passing and I wish I was in town to visit him for the last time. My breathe was taken away when I learned today of his passing. We are old good friends from high school and hanging together. So glad we had reminisced, laughed and talked about the the good old days and our current health a few months ago.
