Fondly known as "Ms. Butts", 90, passed away peacefully from this life on December 28, 2024. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family. Josephine was born in Marietta, Georgia, in 1934, to the late Willie Mae Turner and Lamar Daniell. She moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1954, and relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida.
Josephine had an extensive work history within the Atlantic City community. She worked as a mortician, teacher's assistant atCentral Junior High School for many years, Marty's food Market, City Hall Community Worker, King's Bar and Spencer's Gift shop. She spent her last working years as a security guard for Alliance Security company
Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Boyer; two sons, Paul A. Butts, and Kenneth L. Butts Sr.; son-in-law, Richard H. Wilkerson; two sisters, Daisy Reynolds and Mattie Henry; two brothers, Charles and Robert Daniell; one granddaughter, Kennyetta Holmes; and two great-grandchildren twins, David and Sanaa Hankerson.
She leaves to cherish her fondest memories to her four children, Joyce Wilkerson, Willie Mae "Tiny" Butts, Eric Forbey (Tunisha) and Kenneth L. Butts, Jr.; her only great-nephew, Clinton O. Walden (Jackie); ten grandchildren, Vincent Owens, Jerome Butts (Flora), Terry Hose-Spence (Sterling), Jackie Hankerson, Shena Boyer, Therese Wilkerson (Kenny), John Phillips, Nitika Butts, Paula Butts, and Shawn Forbey; twenty great-grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren, five great-great nieces/nephews, fourteen great-great-great nieces/nephews, her companion, Roland Jackman, dear friend Marie Taylor, bonus daughter, Norine Jackson and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Second Baptist Church, 110 Rev. Dr. Isaac Cole Plaza, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial in Egg Harbor City Cemetery.

I knew Josephine when she worked at Marty´s Market on South Carolina Ave and I was at Kay Building Co. across the street. We had many great conversations over the years! She was absolutely one of a kind!
