LEONARD KRAFT Obituary

KRAFT, LEONARD S. 85 - a resident of Woodview Estates Assisted Living, Mays Landing, and formerly, Delray Beach and Bonita Springs, Florida passed away on February 16th to join his wife of 58 1/2 years, Sandy. He was two weeks shy of his 86th birthday. Leonard grew up in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia as a first generation American and attended Blains School, Meryl Dobbins High School and the Philadelphia Institute of Art. Leonard was a proud, decorated WWII Veteran and a horse mounted military police (M.P.) member stationed in Camp Stewart, Georgia. He was a top notch, mechanic and owned several sports cars and service stations in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He and his wife owned and managed properties in the Atlantic City area that are now occupied by casinos. Leonard was an avid golfer with a 9 handicap and was club champion at several clubs including Bonita Springs Country Club. He was also an avid boater and a member of the United States Power Squadron. During his 26 years in Ventnor he was active in of the Knights of Pythias and Congregation Beth Judah. He was a proud father, grandfather, and uncle and survived by his children, Adrienne of North Jersey, Stuart (Casey) EHT, Sindy Baker (Karl) of Northfield, Lyn of South Florida; grandchildren Christina, Brian, Joshua, Kelsey Kraft and Lucas Baker. Three sisters Rae, Lillian, Evelyn and brother, Harry and their families, survives him. Granddaughters, Lauren and Alaina Baker, predeceased him. Graveside services will be held at Beth Kehillah Cemetery, EHT, Sunday at 11AM. My father was a sensitive man with the soul of a dreamer. He was an artist as a young man, a devoted family man who gave up his art to support his family.
