Michael George Brestle
52, a Ventnor native, passed away on Sunday, September 14th. Born on April 13th, 1973 in Atlantic City, Michael most recently resided in Somers Point. He attended Holy Spirit High School, where he excelled as a linebacker and was a key member of a championship football team. He continued his football career at Rutgers University, pursuing his passion for the sport. After college, Michael entered the electrician's apprenticeship program, eventually becoming a journeyman. He went on to work at his family's multigenerational business, Calvi Electric Company, where he dedicated over 30 years and rose to the role of president. Michael was also a partner in Rising Star Promotions and Spartan Promotions, both of which promoted boxing events in Atlantic City. He was an avid supporter of local sports and charities, known for his extreme generosity and dedication to the community. Michael loved his favorite charity project, Angels in Motion. The staff said that Michael was one of the only people who truly talked to their unhoused clientele, treated them with love & respect, listened to them and fed them. As a result of his generosity on Giving Tuesday the charity was able to purchase an outreach trailer that countless lives have been touched by. A devout Catholic with a deep and abiding faith, Michael regularly attended Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate. Michael is survived by his beloved children: Madison, Marlee, and Michael Blaze; his father, mentor and business partner, George; his brothers, Matt (Denise) and Andrew; and his nephews: Grant, Chase (Cole), Louis (Daria) Nicholas, and Evan. He is also mourned by countless cousins, second cousins and very close friends whom he considered siblings. Michael was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Kay, who passed away just days before him.
Interment was private. Michael was laid to rest alongside his mother in the Calvi Family Plot at Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday, September 22nd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate on Saturday, September 27th with visitation beginning at 9:00 am, the Mass will follow at 11:00am.
