Shirley Moncrief Obituary

MONCRIEF, SHIRLEY J., 78 - of Galloway Township, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008. She was born in Galloway Township and lived there all of her life. She graduated from Egg Harbor High School and received an Associate Degree from Glassboro State College. Shirley was a teacher at Assumption School for 16 years and a substitute teacher for the Galloway School System. She was employed by the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office for 28 years. She was a lector at Church of the Assumption in Pomona; a member of the American Business Women's Association, Hammonton Chapter, where she won the 1991 Woman of the Year award; a member of the Child Placement Review Board of DYFS; a member of the PTA at the Pomona School; a member of the Pomona Fire Ladies Auxiliary and a Notary Public of the State of New Jersey. Shirley is predeceased by her husband, William Moncrief (January 22, 1979). She is survived by her sons, William F. Moncrief, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Michigan and Robert Moncrief and his wife, Terri of Galloway; her grandchildren: Amy Converse and her husband, Jeff; Brian Moncrief and his wife, Cynthia; Robert Moncrief, Jr. and his wife, Francine; William Moncrief; Kyle Moncrief and Shane Moncrief. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Alyssa, Tristan, Kayla, Peyton, Joshua and Hannah. Also, her many friends and family from the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office. A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (609) 965-0357. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Church of Assumption, Pomona. Interment will follow at Germania Cemetery, Galloway Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice Services, 2 Braddock Drive, Somers Point, New Jersey 08244 or to Church of the Assumption Building Fund, PO Box 517, 276 White Horse Pike, Pomona, New Jersey 08240.
