Victor Dosch Obituary

Victor Felix Dosch

Victor Felix Dosch, 96, of Margate City, NJ, died at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, on November 7, 2024. Born August 1, 1928, in Ziebach, SD, he grew up on a farm in Eagle Butte, SD. He graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD, with a degree in electronic engineering and worked at the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, PA, while serving as a first lieutenant in the Navy, then as a civilian, where he modified the largest analog computer at the time (Typhoon) to operate the first human centrifuge for the original seven astronauts and the X-15 pilots, including Neil Armstrong. There, he met his wife, Rosemary Hanahoe Dosch, who worked as a mathematician. While in the Navy, he received his Masters with the Moore School of Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania. They moved to Margate, NJ, in 1962, when he began his career at the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC), now the FAA Technical Center, where he retired in 1983 as Chief of the Airports Branch. He had a private pilot's license and belonged to the FAA Flying Club. After retiring, Victor taught one year at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott Campus and in 1990-91 served as business manager for the St. Bonaventure Indian Mission in Thoreau, NM. Victor and Rosemary enjoyed traveling, whether in a Winnebago motorhome with their family or flying internationally. Victor was a member of The Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church for many years. Survivors include three of his five children, Anne Marie (Jim) Ward, Patricia Hanahoe-Dosch, and Fr. Michael Dosch, O.P.; three grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Flynn, Mary Pap, and Gwendolyn Ward; along with two great-grandchildren, Theo Janton and Thomas Flynn. Victor was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Hanahoe Dosch; his daughter, Kathleen Flynn; and his son, David Dosch.

The funeral Mass is 11, Saturday, November 16, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with viewing starting at 10. Video interviews of Victor can be found at https://victor-dosch.com/. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Parish or the Longport American Legion for their Wounded Warrior Fund. To the Dosch family:

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Your parents were wonderful people and they raised a very good family.
I fondly remember their involvement with Blessed Sacrament Church and Blessed Sacrament School.

As you mourn your loss, celebrate the memories.

Condolences to the Dosch family. Mr. Dosch had a very impressive career. I grew up with Kathleen. So sad that she passed so young. May you find comfort knowing that he is reunited with his wife , daughter and son.

I remember Vic and Rosemary walking to Mass every morning and we would stop and talk just about anything. He was a loyal member of our Council, a Chartered Member, and a dedicated parishioner of our Holy Trinity Parish. He will be remembered as a good and decent man. The family has the sincere condolences of our entire Council.

Condolences to the family. The memory I have of Mr. Dosch is ever morning at daily Mass at Blessed Sacrament chapel he would enter the side door of chapel holding Mrs. Dosch's hand and placing his finger in the holy water font would rub the water on his wife's finger and they would both bless themselves.
