William Zimmerman Obituary

William H. Zimmerman, Jr.

July 10, 1949 - May 4, 2025

William H. Zimmerman, Jr., known to friends and family as "Bill," died in Cape May Court House, N.J., on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, after a long illness. He previously resided in the Philadelphia area and retired to the Jersey shore.

Bill was born in Erie, Pa., on July 10, 1949, and grew up surrounded by a close-knit community of family and friends that he cherished throughout his life. Bill was a Vietnam veteran, serving six years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Mullinix. Following his discharge, Bill completed his college degree and was employed in the computer industry at Digital Equipment, National Semiconductor, and FLT. He volunteered with Boy Scouts, coached little league baseball, and never missed his children's many sports games. Bill loved a good laugh, a bike ride on the boardwalk, a bowl of ice cream, and a round of golf. Philadelphia sports teams, Penn State football, and local high school sports have lost an avid fan.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan; three children, Scott (Kristen), Tim (Deepti), and Mary Ann Ingram (John); five grandchildren, Maura Zimmerman, Stella Zimmerman, Bodhi Zimmerman, Uma Zimmerman, Teddy Ingram; sister, Wendy Case (Paul); sister-in-law, Terri Zimmerman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and June (Rausch) Zimmerman, Sr. and his brother, Jack.

Visitation will be held on May 9th, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Church, 9910 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, N.J. For family and friends who are distant or unable to attend, please join through your thoughts and prayers.

Burial will follow at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to The Step Back Foundation, which provides athletic equipment and other necessities to local student-athletes in need of assistance. Donations can be made online or sent to 200 New Jersey Ave, North Wildwood, NJ 08260. Condolences at www.radzieta.com.
