Evelyn (Long) Dockstader, 82, returned to her heavenly home on October 21, 2024 at her place of residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 14, 1942 in Preston, Idaho. She was the daughter of Rufus Wendell Long and Afton Hobbs. Evelyn graduated from Preston High School in 1960 and later that same year married Lawerence Weeks on July 14, 1960 in the Logan Temple. Evelyn and Lawerence later divorced, yet they had 6 beautiful children, 5 boys and 1 girl, with the eldest two sons passing during infancy. Evelyn spent her adult years raising her daughter and three sons while devoting her life to her church, her hobbies, her career and her family. Evelyn met the love of her life, Dennis Dockstader, in March 1992 and they later married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on May 27, 1992. They sealed their eternal love in the Logan Temple on July 13, 2004 and became nearly inseparable. When Evelyn wasn't serving her family, her faith or her good works she enjoyed her time outdoors camping and traveling with those she loved dearly.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter and three sons, Laura L. Whitmore (daughter) of South Boston, Virginia; Wendell L. (son) Weeks of Clifton, Idaho; David L. Weeks (son and wife Majorie), and Lorin L. Weeks (son) as well as step children Justin Dockstader (son and his wife Jennifer), Natalie D. Abudulahi (daughter and her husband Robert), Rodney Dockstader (son and his wife Sarah), and Rhonda Dockstader (daughter). Evelyn is also survived by her siblings La Rue M. Burbank; Roy C. Long; Samuel Dee Long; Willis Clyne Long; Gaylene Long and Wendy Long as well as 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Dockstader, her parents, her brother Eugene W. Long, and her two infant sons, Don and Richard.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the Mapleton Ward Chapel, 5307 E. Cub River Rd., Preston, Idaho. Interment was in the Mapleton Cemetery.
