Adrian Jones Obituary
Adrian was raised in the Blandford community and was an awesome defensive end and outside linebacker for the Crimson Wave football team, where the team won the state championship in 1979. He was also a proud graduate of Petersburg High School, class of 1980. He attended Virginia State College (University), John Tyler Community College and ITT Tech. He was a diehard Minnesota Vikings and Miami Heat fan.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Hill; father, Archie "Dobie" Smith; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Julia Redwine; paternal grandparents, Deacon Sidney and Ruth Smith; and two uncles that he cherished, Thomas "Dickie" Redwine and Joseph "Skeeter" Smith.
Mr. Jones is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Paula Jones; children, Quinton "Foo" Gholson, Destini Rice and Davon Hansard, all of Petersburg, Va.; grandson, Damari Hansard; his adorable pooch, Midnight Jones; a devoted mother figure, Joyce McQuilla; two devoted brothers, Archie Jones and Anthony Smith; sisters, Arnita Knight (Danny) of Spanaway, Wash., Annette Reed (Nisey) of Prince George, Va., and Angelia Shaw of Richmond, Va.; mother-in-law, Mary Hansard Woodfin; father-in-law, Harry Hansard; brother-in-law, Gary Hansard; sister-in-law, Rita Hansard, all of Petersburg, Va.; aunts, Mary Woods of Fayetteville, N.C., Lula Goudeau and Shirlene Barrow, both of Petersburg, Va., Gloria Moss of Ettrick, Rose Humphrey of Petersburg, Va., devoted, Linda Redwine Bell (Robert) of Abingdon, Md., Wanda Redwine Taylor (Doc) of Dinwiddie, Va., Ruth Greene of Philadelphia, Pa., Anges Cunningham of Prince George, Va., Barbara Davis, Charlotte Smith and Yvonne Harris, all of Petersburg, Va.; uncles, James "Buttercup" Smith (Dorothy) of Petersburg, Va., William "Ankie" Smith of Hopewell, Va., Sidney Smith (Phyllis) of Crewe, Va., and Ronald Smith of Petersburg, Va.; devoted niece, Kiaunda Jones; devoted nephew, Ernest Jones; devoted cousins, Rosalind Whitted and Darlene Thomas, who will truly miss his presence in their loves; as well as the members of the Blandford community family, the class of 1980, members of the 1979 Crimson Wave Championship Football Team and several devoted friends, Roy Jordan, Brian Smith, Kalvin Young, Lionel Rogers, Michael Robb; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, too numerous to name.
Funeral services for Mr. Adrian Jones will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at 1045 7th Street, Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted by calling 804-733-8561.

I will miss you so much Adrian. You were one of my biggest fans who always encouraged me. If I had to pick a little brother, it would be you.
