BERNARD CROWDER Obituary

Bernard "Scrappy" Raymond Crowder, III, 62, of Church Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Crowder; children, Jamie Patten (Michael), Jason Crowder (Sherri), and Courtney Ewick (Thor); grandchildren, Savannah, Blain, Makinlee, and Chase Lewis, Braydon and Breanna Crowder, and Banks Ewick; parents, Bernard R. "Chick" Crowder, Jr. and Geanette Crowder; siblings, Kermit "Knuck" Crowder (Cathy) and Deborah Franciscus (Marty); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Scrappy was born and raised in Matoaca and then went on to proudly serve his community in law enforcement, retiring after many years as Police Sergeant with the Petersburg Police Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bear hunting in Canada. Scrappy will be missed by his family and friends dearly.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Rd., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program, 5 North Fifth St., Richmond, VA 23219. The family requests in honor of Scrappy's memory for you to take a child hunting or fishing. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
