On Friday, July 13, 2007, at 3:23 p.m., God in his infinite wisdom called from earth to glory, Barry Odell Jordan, 33, of 4408 Canvasback Court, Petersburg, at the MCV Hospital in Richmond. Barry was loved by many and will be remembered for his gentle spirit and kind heart. He was a devoted father and loved his family and as well as his friends. He loved the sport of playing pool like his father.

He leaves to cherish memories of him, his parents, Maxwell and Magaline Jordan of Petersburg; two loving and devoted children, Kiesha and Barry Jr.; a brother, Julian Jordan of Petersburg; a former wife, Belinda Walker Dunston of Richmond; his maternal grandparents, Adolphus and Sophronia Pegram and his paternal grandmother, Mamie Jordan, all of Stony Creek; six aunts, Ethel Bland (Thomas), Delphine Pegram, Christine Pegram and Deborah Walker (Rudolph), all of Stony Creek, Florence Marshall of Prince George and Lorraine Lawrence (Milton) of Richmond; five uncles, Bobby, James and Ernest Pegram of Stony Creek, Bradford Jordan (Tanya) of Chester and Thomas Jordan Jr. of Richmond; eight great-aunts; four great-uncles; and a host of devoted cousins and friends, among them Charles Walker, Derrick Flowers, John Branch and James Stith.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Good Shepard Baptist Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Dorth P. Edwards, pastor of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the residence, 3104 Longstreet Drive, Petersburg, and can be contacted at (804) 733-3379. Our hearts go out to the parents and children of such a wonderful young man. He was a wonderful co-worker, but most importanty, a wonderful human being. He will always be in our hearts, as he shared our grief when we lost our daughter in March 2007. He will always be remembered. Nothing can take the pain away, but try to find some comfort in the fact that he was so well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Weep not
Now that he's gone
He's in Heaven
Where life goes on

Think of him just
Now and again
But remember that
He has no pain

Know that he
Loved you so
It's important that
This you know

Someday in the future
Together you'll be
For this is our
Lord's guarantee

Your loved one is now in Jesus' strong arms
Where he will sweetly rest
For that is where the angels have taken him
So he can be happy and blessed

No more will he fear today or tomorrow
Nor will he know pain or sorrow
Only joy and lasting peace
Since his soul has been safely released

He will be greatly missed
By family and friends
But we will see him one day again
Where life with Jesus will never have to end
