DOLORES HAINES JONES

Dolores Haines Jones, 80, of Sutherland, VA, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, after a period of declining health. Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Emerson Haines and Frances Elizabeth Burton Haines. She was also preceded in death by her infant brother, Ralph Emerson Haines. Dolores was a long time member of Ocran United Methodist Church where she was active in the music program. She enjoyed large family gatherings and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and for her good home cooked meals.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Harry Byrd Jones; daughter, Diane J. Laine and husband, Brian M. Laine of Wakefield, VA; son, Sterling R. Jones and wife, Leslie B. Jones of Sutherland, VA; grandchildren, Erin West and husband, David, Charles Redman and wife, Tammi, and Brian M. Laine, II, all of Wakefield, VA, and Chad E. Jones of Dinwiddie, VA; great-grandchildren, Mollie, Kaitlyn, Chloe, and Charlie Redman, and Judson West; and a sister, Margie H. Stout of Wakefield, VA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at Ocran United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the church with The Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Park, Lacrosse, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocran United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 309, Sutherland, VA 23885.
