Dorothy Stein Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" Hauser Stein of Satellite Beach, passed away on Sept. 8, 2011. She was born in Petersburg, Va., on Dec. 20, 1930, and grew up on her parents' farm outside of Dinwiddie.

Moving to Miami, Fla., in the early 1950s, she worked as an x-ray technician, and met her future husband, Edward M. Stein, who predeceased her. They had three sons and the family came to Satellite Beach, Fla., in 1968.

Dottie had three passions: cooking, baking (much to the delight of her family), and bowling. She excelled at all of them. Dottie bowled in leagues, and state and national tournaments for over 50 years, capturing many honors along the way. She was also a bowling instructor, and even in her later years, Dottie's average was well into the 170s.

Dottie is survived by her sister, Francis Scott Jones (Rawlings, Va.); sons, Philip M. Stein (Satellite Beach, Fla.), Glenn "Marty" Stein (Apopka, Fla.), and Tracy M. Stein (Orlando, Fla.); and granddaughters, Ashley, Aleah and Rebekah.

We loved Dottie too. I will think of her each time I make her famous Blue Cheese Dressing that was so delicious. She was a lovely women and a wonderful grandmother to Aleah and Rebekah. She was always taking pictures at family get togethers and sharing them later. Our thoughts are with you all.
