Elijah Skelton Obituary

Elijah Skelton, age 80, of 7215 Walker Mill Road, Capitol Heights, Md., entered into eternal rest at Tuesday June 8, 2010, at the Washington Hospital Center.

Mr. Skelton was a native of Dinwiddie County and was born July 17, 1929, to the late Roy and Cinda Bates Skelton. He was a retired employee from the National Security Agency (NSA) with 33 years of service.

He leaves to cherish memories of him, a loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Ruby Lee Edwards-Skelton of Maryland; six children, Sherman M. Skelton (Barbra) of Indiana, Faye Mathieu (Kim) of Louisiana, James E. Skelton, Wanda Noel (Walter) and Constance Skelton of Maryland, Jacqueline Jones (Robert) of Dinwiddie. one aunt, Nancy Skelton of Dinwiddie; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, four sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at noon in the Petersburg Chapel – Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home 530 S. Sycamore St. Petersburg with the Rev. Daniel Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial will be held on Saturday June 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Horton Funeral Home, 600 Kennedy St. NW Washington DC. The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence of his daughter, Jackie Jones in Dinwiddie. Funeral Services entrusted to the Petersburg Chapel-Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St. Petersburg, VA 863-4411.
