The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the funeral establishment.
Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family will assemble 10 a.m. at 3400 North St., Ettick, Va., the day of the services.

Sonya and James, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. Dr. Smith was an incredible person and taught many things, much more than calculus - she taught dedication, honor, perseverance, patience, and the true value of hard work. 15 years later, I remember her and her teachings fondly. She will be greatly missed.

To the Family of the Late Dr. Emma Breedlove Smith:
For some moments in life there are no words. I am thankful to have known Dr. Smith, as my graduate statistics professor at Virginia State University. She served as a role model and encouraged me to continue to my education. Moreover, before completing my masters degree, she made a point to have me begin researching doctoral programs. I completed my 1st doctoral degree and now I am completing my 2nd.
