Fannie Booth Obituary

Fannie J. Booth, 89, of North Main St., Waterbury, Conn., entered into eternal rest on Sept. 21, 2013, at Waterbury Hospital. God saw fit to call his servant from labor to reward. Fannie was born on Aug. 23, 1924, in Dinwiddie County, Va., to the late Thomas J. Bates and Vinnie (Vaughn) Bates. She was the last surviving sibling out of 13 children. Fannie was the widow of Ernest Booth and Burt Pittman.

Fannie was educated in Dinwiddie County and McKenney, Va. She retired from Southbury Training School in 1989. Fannie was a faithful and devoted member of Mount Olive A.M.E. Zion Church. Fannie was the president and member of the co-worker's club, women's day captain and a dedicated member of the noon day Bible class. Fannie loved praising and serving God.

She was the founder and past president of the Ccourt of Calanthe, Waterbury chapter.

She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Bert Pittman Sr. of Waterbury, Conn.; daughters, Regina Pittman and Delores Kearse, both of Hampton, Va.

She was predeceased by: three children, Benjamin Pittman, Dinah Pittman and Edith Pittman.

She had 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives; and friends.

A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Mount Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, 82-100 Pearl St., Waterbury, Conn., at 11 a.m., with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held in McKenney, Va.

Funeral Services will be held ay 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Big Bethel Baptist Church, 11010 MD Ragsdale St., MckKenney, with the pastor, the Rev. Alexander Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to the McKenney Chapel- Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd., McKenney, 478-4411, www.johnsonservices.us.
