Glen Friday Obituary
Elder Glen R. Friday, 62, of 25113 Floyd Ave., Petersburg (Dinwiddie County), formerly of Jackson, Miss., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. He graduated from Brinkley High School in 1964 in Jackson, Miss. He attended Wesley Theological Seminary Bible College. Elder Friday worked at Hardin's Bakery for several years. He was employed at MP and I for 19 years. He worked for Southern Janitorial Service and later started his own business, Rufus Janitorial Services.
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. He became a member of Easter Temple Church of God in Christ where he served on the Trustee Board, Deacon Board, Minister and held numerous positions in the church. He also served under the late Elder E.A. Easter, E.L. Brooks and Superintendent Emanuel Lang.
He moved to Petersburg in 2003 and joined Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of his brother, Elder George W. Friday.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and also his stepmother Lillie Bell Friday. Left to treasure his precious memories are his wife Mandy L. Friday; six children, Glenella Denise (Marvin) Hatch, Sandra (Jimmie) Judge, Anthony (Emma) Friday, Katina (Frank) Newell, Timothy (Adriane) Friday, and Michael (Sherry) Wilson; two step children, Larry (Linda) Morris, Linda (Leonard) Swilley; Cora Campbell, his first wife; 14 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight brothers, George Laster (Betty) Burnside of Philadelphia, Miss., Pastor Andrew (Veronica) Friday of Jackson, Miss., Pastor George W. (Paulette) Friday of Petersburg, SFC Retired Joseph (Debra) Friday of Jacksonville, N.C., CSM Retired James (Katie) Friday of Columbia, S.C., Willie Odom and Glen Arthur Friday, both of Jackson, Miss., and Kenneth (Yolanda) Friday of Boomington, Minn.; eight sisters, Marie Wooten of Chuckey, Tenn., Vera (Walter) Reed of Chesterfield, Gloria Odom, Joyce Friday and Cindy Quinn, all of Jackson, Miss., Janet (Glenn) Mallory of Minneapolis, Minn., and Felicia Howard and Beverley Friday, both of Jackson, Miss.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday Oct. 25 at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ.
