GREGORY BRIGGS Obituary
He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1985 and was voted "Best Dress." He also attended Virginia State University majoring in Art. He worked at Boars Head Provisions in Petersburg, Virginia, for 14 years. Greg (G-Money) was a calm, cool, and collective man that loved sports (Dallas Cowboys) (ESPN) and (College Football).
He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Crystal Lyle of North Dinwiddie, Virginia; brother, Joseph Lyle of Henrico, Virginia; devoted fiancé, Karen Rogers of Colonial Heights, Virginia; devoted niece, Jamecia Lyle (Meci); two devoted children of Karen's, Karsheena Rogers (Chauncey) and baby Kaliyah (LeLe) of Colonial Heights, Phil Rogers of Petersburg, Virginia; grandmother, Mary Jane Briggs of Petersburg, Virginia; three aunts, Florida Cornish of Petersburg, Virginia, Bertha White and Frances Turner of Berryville, Virginia; two uncles, the late Edward Briggs and James Briggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted friends, Dave White of Accokeek, Maryland, and Wayne Robinson of Petersburg, Virginia; special "Little friends," Ebone Ingram of Petersburg, Virginia, and Aniyah Robinson of North Dinwiddie and Andrenette Robinson of Prince George, Virginia, ("Peaches" movie time) and "Z." Special friends, Carlos Cunningham, Chauncey Woodson, Terrell Robinson, Danny Clavo, Anthony Parham, Derrick Ward, Derrell Wynn, Loni House, Slim, Jay and Henry as he would say (My Boys).
Special Thanks to the staff of John Randolph, HealthSouth, SRMC, Care Family (Shelia Thomas).
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, from the Petersburg Chapel with Rev. Herbert Holly, II, Pastor of St, John Baptist Church, officiating. Public viewing will be Friday, December 29, 2017, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. in the Petersburg Chapel. Funeral services have been entrusted to the professional staff of the Petersburg Chapel of Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg. (804) 863-4411. Family and friends may view/sign the guestbook at www.johnsonservices.us.

G will truly be missed. I can only think of Good memories when I think about him. Cool, calm, and collective that's him all DAY. He worked hard to provide for his family. He loved life and even when things started to decline. His spirit remained set above. G was definitely a G. God planned for him not to suffer but to be at peace. His work here was done. The battle was over. He fought the GOOD fight. .So he was welcomed by his Angel, his mother and OUR FATHER . ABSENT from here but PRESENT with the Lord. .Well done faithful servant. Watch over the crew, until you all meet again.
