Horace Raines Obituary

Mr. Horace Raines Jr. departed this life on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at Manor Care Health Service in Arlington. He was born on Dec. 21, 1937, to the late Horace and Ida Mae Goode Raines.

Horace lived and worked in New York City for 19 years and relocated to Washington, where he was employed and retired from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

He was preceded in death by: his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Raines Taylor; and a brother, John Wilson Raines.

Horace leaves to cherish his memories: his brother and sister-in-law, Franklyn Raines and Arti Graves Raines; a favorite aunt, Geneva Goode Smith of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Horace Raines Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg. Interment to follow at the Union Branch Baptist Church, Petersburg.
