IMAN DICKERSON Obituary

Iman Alexander Dickerson, known as Wanda, departed this life, Monday, February 13, 2017.

Iman was loved and appreciated by many, always with a piece of advice or wisdom. You could count on Iman to give it to you straight and to the point whatever you may needed at the time. Iman was willing to listen and comfort you whenever you had life issues. Part of Iman's mission was to help and encourage others to better their lives. Iman was a graduate of Virginia State University (Suma Cum Laude),

Capella University with a Master's Degree and top of the class in Addiction Counseling.

Iman was employed as a Home Health Aide and enjoyed fishing, computer programming/repair and singing.

Iman was preceded in death by father, Alexander Dickerson; brother, Horace Dickerson; friend, Larry Carter; and best friend, Beverly Ruffin.

Iman is survived by her mother, Laura Dickerson; sons, Cecil Carter and Quincy Todd (like a son); daughter, Cicely Carter; friends, Vanessa Campbell, Yolonda ""Cookie"" Hampton, Jackie Bethel, Diane Brent, Carlean Muhammed, Teanne Robinson, and Yeta Phillips; six uncles; three aunts; seven grandchildren, Taikym, Joshua, Jeremiah, Ceyahni, Malachi, Christian Carter, and Zaniyah Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, My'Asia, Jayden and Aiden Carter; nephew, Stuart Jefferson; a host of other relatives and friends..

Services will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017, at the chapel of Bland and Tucker Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg, Va. The family and friends are requested to assemble at 3:30 p.m. at the chapel of Bland and Tucker Funeral Home, Petersburg, on the day of service.

Professional services have been entrusted to the staff of Bland and Tucker Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg, Va., (804) 732-7841. Family members and friends may leave an online condolence, www.blandandtuckerfuneralhomes.com.
