JIMMIE B. PARRISH

1947 - 2017

Mr. Jimmie B. Parrish, 69, departed this life on Monday, July 17, 2017, at his home in Prince George County, Virginia. He was born on August 1, 1947, to the late Bessie Jewel Foster and J.W. Parrish. After completing his high school education, Jimmie soon entered the United States Army, where he advanced to the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring.
He also continued to advance his learning vocational learning in automotive and mechanical work as well. He enjoyed spending countless time with friends and family by fishing and playing pranks on his wife, water balloon fights, volleyball and watching Madea productions by Tyler Perry.
Jimmie enjoyed sharing laughter and old school music and was a huge lover of outings and travelling. He was a faithful Christian and he also became a Mason as well. His other interests included spending time with his very devoted wife through shopping and social gatherings. He was known for being a good friend and jokester.
In addition to his mother, Bessie J. Foster, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Richard Lee Edwards, Sr., and brothers-in-law, Andrew Lee Edwards and Royal Starks.
He is survived by a very devoted and loving wife, Rosa M. Parrish; daughters, LaJocelyn Williamson and Danita Parrish. He is also survived by his father, Mr. J. W. Parrish; mother-in-law, Gracie Edwards; a devoted uncle-in-law, Herbert Starks (Bertha). He also leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Nadine Chateau,; five sisters-in-law, Dianne Morgan (Steve) who served as his caregiver, Carolyn Edwards, Arlene Edwards, Gloria Edwards, and Gladys Edwards; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Starks (Patricia), Mitchell Edwards and Richard Lee Edwards, Jr., all of Petersburg VA. His legacy also continues through his ten amazing grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews to include the devoted Sherrell Edwards (Ronald) and Lamont R. Edwards. He held a very special place in his heart for his caregiver Tracee; cousins, Herbert Starks, Jr. and Valerie Macafee and a very awesome friend and masonic brother, Mark Spratley. He will truly be missed his community and numerous other friends to include his dedicated and attentive pet dogs, Tara and Spike!
Services for Mr. Jimmie B. Parrish will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Phillip E. Knight, Sr., pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, eulogist, and Elder Lamont Edwards, officiating. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
