Laura Bennett Obituary

Laura Elizabeth "Beth" Mann Bennett, widow of James H. Bennett of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.

She was the daughter of the late Susie Andrews Mann of Petersburg, Va., and was preceded in death by her two sisters, Aggie M. James of Long Beach, Calif., and Roberta "Berta" M. Rupley of Kingsport, Tenn. Beth retired from the Petersburg Public Library and continued to serve the library for many years after her retirement as a volunteer. She was a life-long member of Third Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan B. Edwards of Chester; her son, James Robert "Bob" Bennett (Debbie) of Colonial Heights; granddaughter, Paula S. Edwards of Midlothian; grandson, James R. Bennett Jr. of Colonial Heights; Beth is also survived by her cousins, Margie A. Woody and Alfred Woody (Virgie) of Richmond, as well as her nephews, John S. Rupley Jr. (Jackie) of Kingsport, Tenn., and Michael A. Rupley (Barbara) of La Porte, Texas.

Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Petersburg Library Building Fund, P.O. Box 3435, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I have pleasant memories of visiting with Mrs. Bennett at the libary and having coffee with her at Jimmys Grill.My deepest sympathy to the family.

Mrs. Bennett was a kind and wonderful person she will be missed.I was very sorry to hear of her passing.I will miss her coming to the Dixie for coffee she used to walk from home to Dixie.She had a long and happy life and now she is going for her reward.God bless the family you will be in my prayers.
