MARIE BAUGH Obituary

Mrs. Marie H. Baugh of 826 S. Jones Street Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Southside Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born on March 2, 1924, in Dinwiddie Co., Va., to the late Alfred and Julia McKensie Williams. She retired from the Petersburg Public School System as a Food Service Worker. The students still talked to her about the good rolls she cooked. At an early age, she joined Marmora Baptist Church in Sutherland, Va. Later years, she became a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Missionary Ministry and the Senior Citizen Ministry until her health declined. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, sudoku puzzles and family/ friends activities.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Julia McKensie Williams; husband, Donald Baugh; daughter, Elizabeth Baugh Lee; two sons, Robert Baugh and Luke Timothy Baugh; three brothers, Willie B. Williams, Joseph Williams, and James Williams.

Left to cherish her memories are her devoted children – two sons, Donald Baugh, Sr. and Keith Baugh, both of Petersburg; eight daughters, Nancy Pride, Alice Spriggs, Beatrice Johnson (Eddie, Jr.), Rosa Epps, Mary Burrow (Alphonso), Alma Maclin (Richard), Artmessia Snipes (Robert), and Katherine Griffin (Wayne), all of Petersburg; 20 grandchildren, Jerrod Monte Pride, Kym Worthington (Rick), Donald Baugh, Jr., Thoranica Baugh, Mark Spriggs, James Mason, Lorenzo Johnson (Janine), Antonio Johnson (Sherry), LeDonta Johnson (Jackie), Chanel Hobbs (Rev. Lamont), Shaleta Epps, Thembi Bonner, Mike Baugh, Rashan Bonner, Kwata Baugh, Lamon Maclin, Aisha Roberts (Jayson), Marcus Baugh, Shawnta Burrow (Tyrice) and Dacobry Jones; twenty-six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Baugh; two loving sisters, Emma Fells and Jessie Nelson, all of Petersburg; one loving brother, Alfred Williams (Delores) of Petersburg; a host of other relatives and friends including Mrs. Martha Lewis and her Jones Street family.

Marie was a mother to many who loved her dearly including Benny Goode, Alexander Cain, Greg Morgan, Terry Hill, Marvin Tally, Keith Morten, Juan Wilson, Jesse Jefferson, Rayfield Williams, Bernard McKensie, Lawrence Epps, and Ronny Walker.

Special thanks to the At Home Care Staff especially Mary Winters and Jasmine Martin. We will always be grateful for your love and support in assisting us with our mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 12 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va. Bishop Jeffrey L. Reaves, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Petersburg, Va. The family may be contacted at 804-733-5019.
