MICHAEL DUBUS Obituary

Michael Thomas Dubus was born August 30, 1931, in Bernardsville, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridget Walsh Dubus; his infant son, Thomas; and his daughter, Mary Schindel. Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Catherine; daughter, Kathleen (Bob) Cravens of Ellsworth, Maine; son, Michael (Marietta) Dubus of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Tim (Mary) Dubus of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Maureen (Kevin) Stengel of Richmond; and son-in-law, Paul Schindel of Chester. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren – Catie, Zach and Molly Cravens; Patrick, Kelsey and Matthew Dubus; Michael, Bridget and Maggie Dubus; Connor, Rory, Neil and Bridget Schindel; and Aidan and Fintan Stengel – and sister, Mary Anne (Bud) Kellerk; and many nieces and nephews.

Always industrious, Mike worked a variety of jobs as a young man in Bernardsville including Dog Warden, Constable, Civil Defense Director and Councilman. Mike began his career with Allied Chemical in Morristown, New Jersey in 1954 and transferred to Allied's Chesterfield Fibers Plant in 1965. Mike retired from Allied Signal/Honeywell in 1996 after a distinguished and rewarding 42-year career. Mike was a devoted parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church for over 50 years and served tirelessly on numerous committees. He also served for many years on the Chesterfield Planning Commission. In retirement, Mike developed a love of antique fire equipment and proudly drove his several fire trucks in parades across the state. He served as Treasurer of the Old Dominion Fire Society for many years and enthusiastically participated in all their events. Mike will be missed for his love of his Irish heritage, military marching music and outdoor concerts, fireworks, and any and all parades. Mike was a devoted and loving husband and valued his faith and his family above all else. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon Monday, April 18, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, S. Chesterfield, Virginia. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
