MOSES L. WINFIELD

Mr. Moses L. Winfield, 93, entered into eternal peace on Jan. 5, 2013, at the John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell.

Moses was born on Sept. 23, 1919, to the late John and Polly Winfield. He was educated in the Prince George Public School System. After serving four years in the United States Army, two years of which were in London, England, he returned home and became employed with Honeywell, formerly Allied Chemical, for 34 years before retiring.

Having family and friends around was one of his favorite pastimes, as well as spending time down at City Point talking with his buddies and enjoying the scenery. He loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grands. He also was a huge Washington Redskins and Altanta Braves fan. Whenever anyone stopped by to visit you could always find him in his "big" chair doing what he loved best, looking at television.

Moses was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Elizabeth, Anderson, Annie, Wilbur, Mary and Walter Winfield.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 53 years, Helen Epps Winfield; three devoted daughters, Jacquelin and Helen A. Winfield, both of Hopewell, and Kim Winfield of Matoaca; four grandchildren, Sylena, Krystal, Sean and Destiny; three great-grandchildren, Delano, Desiree and Sean Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Doris Winfield, Ruth Bland (Abraham), Judy Williams (Rodney), Rosemary Cooke (Claiborne); a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, among them were his great-nephew, Jabbar Smith, and two dear friends, Dennis Wheeler, "the Two Dolla Man," as Dad would say, and Elgin Collins, better known as "Spud,"

A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell. The Rev. Juanita Adams will officiate.
