NATHANIEL PRIDE Obituary

On December 9, 2014, Nathaniel Timothy Pride, Jr. (Nate, Nathan, Timmy) suddenly went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was a native of North Dinwiddie, Va., but had lived in Newport News, VA for several years.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Bland Pride, of North Dinwiddie, father, Nathaniel T. Pride, Sr., and stepmother, Ruth Lorraine Pride of North Dinwiddie, brother, Norris T. Pride, Sr. and sister-in-law, Kanika (Nikki) of South Chesterfield, VA; stepsister Kishia Means (Preston) of Chesterfield, VA; niece, Morgan Pride; nephews, Norris, Jr. and Gavin Pride, Donovan and Cameron Means; aunts and uncles Dorothea and Ron Eley of Durham, NC; Nelson and Delphine Pride of Richmond, VA; Florence and Michael Thompson of Chesterfield, VA; Willie Robinson of Henrico, VA; Sarah Bland of Sutherland, VA; and four great aunts Irene Robinson, May Smith, Cressie Flowers, and Louise Bland, many cousins, one special like a brother, Michael Wiggins, other relatives, and friends.

He graduated from Dinwiddie County Senior High School, Dinwiddie, VA – class of 1996. He also attended Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Maryland. Timmy served in the United States Army from 1996 to 1999 and was trained in Satellite Communications. After training at Fort Jackson, SC and Fort Gordon, GA, we was assigned to Fort Belvoir, VA. He then moved to Stuttgart Germany and worked with the military. Timmy had many accomplishments, including special clearance for military service.

Timmy was employed in various capacities in communications and was currently employed at the Langley Federal Credit Union in Hampton, VA. He worked as a Computer Operator and then was promoted to Desktop Technician. Timmy enjoyed building and working on computers, riding fast motorcycles, attending biking and motor sports events. He also enjoyed playing bass guitar with his dad and friends. He was also a professional photographer and enjoyed traveling and taking pictures of all kinds of scenery and landmarks. Timmy participated in Bible Study with a group in Newport News. He also enjoyed cooking and was quick to experiment with spices, herbs, and new dishes of foreign origin. The never admitted a pepper was too hot for him; he just simply twitched his eyes and ears, wriggled his nose, and continued eating.

A celebration of life will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, December 17, 2014, at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Sutherland, Va., with Rev. Lynn Robinson, pastor, eulogizing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Immediate family will assemble at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., at William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg. The family requests that all food items be omitted.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg; Rev. Antonio A. Tucker Sr., funeral director. For more information or to leave a condolence, please visit our website at www.blandenterprisesinc.com

I am deeply saddened by the passing of this very special young man. I knew him during my years of high school. Although I was a year behind him, he never hesitated to speak to me when he saw me in the halls. He was a very kind soul. The Pride family will be in my prayers.

To The Pride Family
On behalf of the Maxfield family, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your son. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the pain seems to be a bit harder to bear when it's unexpected. Just know that you are loved and will be continually in our prayers.
