Ruby Perkinson Obituary
She was the daughter of the late Willie Wilson and Florence M. Wombold. She made her home in Dinwiddie County for 70 years. For the past five years she resided with her daughter and son-in-law Ruby and John Leonard of Disputanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton A. Perkinson, and a daughter, Agnes P. Orton, of Dinwiddie County. Mrs. Perkinson was one of the the oldest members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, member of The Senior Circle of Oak Grove UMC. Mrs. Perkinson enjoyed her bus trips, her talent of craft making, having her family and friends around her.
Surviving are her daughters, Helen P. Cain (Bobby) of Carson, Geanette Crowder (Chick) of Matoaca, Garnette P. Savage (Jimmy) of Maine, Ruby P. Leonard (John) of Disputanta; sons, C. Floyd Perkinson (Mary) and Warren A. Perkinson (Lynn) of Dinwiddie; son-in-law, Edgar Orton of Dinwiddie; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Robert Blinn, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Disputanta, and the Rev. Thomas Lester, pastor of Crawford United Methodist Church of Dinwiddie. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of food or flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice of Petersburg, or your favorite charity. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
