SARAH S. BAXTER

Sarah Seay Baxter of Midlothian, Va., passed away on November 2, 2015. She was born in Petersburg, Va., the daughter of Josephine Barksdale Seay and Hugh Nelson Seay, Sr.

Her grace, love and kindness touched many. She was the very first physics major at Madison College. She was a former teacher and the Vice President and Secretary of Saroca Corp., a family-owned business. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 50 years, a Bible School Teacher, and a Circle Moderator of her various churches. She was also a Lay Speaker. In addition, she was a hospice volunteer.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert Everette Baxter, Sr.; and two daughters, Sarah Baxter Cash and husband, Carl, Catherine Baxter Redford and husband, Robert; and a son, Robert E. Baxter, Jr. and wife, Laura, all of Midlothian.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, D. Clay Buckley, Jr. of Hitchcock, Texas, and wife, Brittany, Joseph B. Buckley of Mooresville, N.C., and wife, Kristi, Jennifer L. Buckley of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and partner, Kaspar Brown, Elizabeth R. Howley of Richmond, Va., and husband, Patrick, Lindsay R. Baxter of Austin, Texas, Lauren B. Roberts of Midlothian, Va., and husband, Lee, and Robert E. Baxter III of Midlothian. She is also survived by her nephew, John L. Seay, his wife, Jamy, and their son, J.J., of Gainesville, Fla.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015, at J.T. Morriss & Son Petersburg Chapel, 103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, Va. A private burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her honor.
