TAMMY GETTINGS Obituary

Tammy Ransone Gettings, 59, of Chester and Topping, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

Tammy was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as a trustee and took part in many functions. Tammy graduated with honors from Middlesex High school, where she graduated as Salutatorian and earned several scholarships. She obtained her R.N. degree from Reynolds Community College. She earned her B.S.N. degree from the Medical College of Virginia with honors, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Tammy's academic skills earned her many awards, including "Who's Who in America." Tammy served over 30 years, mostly ICU nursing at Rappahannock General Hospital and John Randolph Medical Center. The past 14 years of her career, she served as the Nursing and Administrative Supervisor. Tammy was well known as an entertainer and performed with her and Linwood's band "The Southland Band." She loved the band members and their supporters. She has entertained thousands with her beautiful voice and guitar talent. She enjoyed spending time with Linwood at their Chester home, as well as the River home where she enjoyed beach combing for fossils and shark's teeth.

Tammy is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Linwood Gettings, her mother, Iona Ransone; and brothers, Steven Ransone (Linda) and Carrol Ransone; and a sister, Audrey Savage (Art).

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, 17120 Jefferson Davis Highway, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. The Southland Band will perform in Tammy's honor at this service. Burial will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A reception will be held at the church fellowship hall following the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tammy Gettings Memorial Fund at Ivey United Methodist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Prayers of comfort,strength and peace for Linwood and all who loves her.We worked ICU-CCU together for quite a few years.She was a great nurse,a beautiful voice and musician.She was a friend to everyone at JRMC.She will be missed!
