WAVERLY RICHARDSON III

Waverly Richardson, III, was born in Hopewell, Va., on June 9, 1950, and departed this life at Southside Regional Medical Center on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waverly Richardson, II; his mother, Eva Mae Richardson Rollins; a son, Kareem Richardson; and a granddaughter, Kamryn Richardson.

Following his elementary and secondary school attendance in Hopewell Public Schools, Waverly enlisted in the United States Army. While enlisted, he earned a General Education Development (GED) certification. Upon discharge from the army, Waverly worked at a variety of occupations including, but not limited to, a house painter, and a production worker. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, reading, solving crossword puzzles, watching animal documentaries, and listening to music.

Waverly was reared in the admonition of the Lord and attended Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Hopewell. Though he never declared a church home, Waverly worshipped at various churches and was baptized, in adulthood, by Reverend Judge Brown of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Thaddeus Jones (Semique) and Adrian Richardson; three daughters, Tammy Terrell Johnson, Malaka Spriggs and Latecia Jones. Additionally, Waverly is survived by five brothers, James Baskerville (Aretha), Carl Baskerville, Kerry Richardson, Andre Richardson and Maurice Richardson (Celina); seven sisters, Carolyn Richardson Townes (Joe), Marilyn Richardson Lawrence (Thomas), Tammie Rollins-Hines (Jay), Shawn Rollins, Kimberly Rollins, Dionne Rollins and Sonya Rollins Charles (Cliff). Finally, he is survived by grandchildren, Jocelyn Jones, Donte Jones, Iyanna Jones, Javon Jones, Semiyah Jones, Jaela Jones, Johnnea Richardson, Kareem Richardson Jr., Kamden Richardson, Adrian Lamar Morgan, Tai'Maine Baker, Adrion Lamon Richardson, Adrian Lamar Richardson Jr., Ajavion Richardson and Akavion Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Bland & Tucker Funeral Home, 1500 Arlington Road, Hopewell, Va. Rev. Marcus N. Leggett will eulogize. Burial will follow the service at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcomed to join in Coffee and Dessert Bar at the conclusion of the burial at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 13721 North Enon Church Road, Chester, VA 23836.
