William Maitland Obituary
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bernadine and William Tatman and paternal grandfather, William H. Maitland.
He is survived by his parents, William Larry and Stephany Tatman Maitland of Stony Creek; paternal grandmother, Mary Lucy Maitland of Wilsons; a sister, Lisa Maitland of Rawlings; a brother, Forest Maitland (Nikki) of Dinwiddie; three nieces; one nephew; eight aunts; five uncles, along with many other relatives and friends.
Wade was employed by Ditch Witch of Virginia. He was a lover of hunting and outdoor activities and was a member of the Ole Henry Hunt Club of Ford. In his spare time he built trucks for mud bogs and when participating in regional mud bogs he was better known to fans as "Swamp Rat." He loved his time spent with his many friends and the "Swamp Rat" family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460) near Blackstone. Graveside services will be held at Butterwood Methodist Church Cemetery, 2411 Darvills Road, Blackstone, Va., on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Southside Wildlife Habitat, c/o Hugh Rogers, 5112 Lennie Road, McKenney, VA 23872. Mud Boggs will never be the same without you. I always remembered you being there smiling and laughing - always showing up at the last minute cause you stayed up waaayy to late the night before :) I am so grateful to have had met you and enjoyed the times we had. I will never forget giving Wade three winning lottery tickets(big ones) three days in a row!! He always had the biggest smile on his face! Glad I ran into him just a few months ago. Wade, you will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with your family!!

Wade- "What you wanna do now?" Everyone is going to miss you so much. To his family I am sorry for your loss. Wade you were a brother to my daddy, and a uncle to me. I'm glad the last time you were over here we had really good laughs together, and you told me stories of you and dad. It wont be the same with out you. I don't know who dad will call and invite over for dinner when he's cooked way to much deer meat. You continue to live through the stories that are told everyday. I miss you!
