WILLIAM WALTHALL Obituary

Retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. William Walthall of 1808 Grimes Road, Petersburg, went on to Glory Monday, December 5, 2016, at Southside Regional Medical Center.
William was born March 6, 1933, to his parents, the late Edith E. Brown and Edwin K. Walthall. He was a graduate from Dunbar High School. He retired from the United States Army and Civil Service.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and very happy knowing the Cowboys were on an eleven game winning streak. He enjoyed watching old western movies, old war movies, games shows and shopping QVC!
William was a member of the Prince Hall Free Masonary 33rd Degree, Eastern Stars, and Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet K. Walthall; brother, Lester C. Walthall; and sisters, Clara O. Jackson, Savantha L. McCary and Lillie J. Cornelius.
Leaves to his memory: son, Edwin M. Walthall (Laura); daughter, Janice L. Jones (Michael Sr.); godson, Fenton L. Bland Sr; brother-in-law, Harry L. Kenney III; sister, Imogene O. Goodspeed; sister-in-law, Constance Kenney; five grandchildren, Jasmine Deramee, Jessica Jones, Michael Jones Jr., Jared Walthall and Tyler Walthall; five great-grandchildren; host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, pastor, eulogist. Entombment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Petersburg, Va.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Southside Regional Medical Center and Davita Petersburg Dialysis Center.
