Allan Brent

BRENT, ALLAN, 79, of Melbourne, FL formerly of Providence, died Monday, July 21, 2008.

Born in Providence, RI, Allan loved the outdoors and believed in community. He was an instructor and a trainer for the American Red Cross. In the summer he worked as an Aquatics Director and Swim Coach for private summer camps in NY for over 25 years. Allan served as a consultant and expert witness in Aquatics for attorneys in Florida and Rhode Island in litigations of catastrophic and debilitating incidents. He was an Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education, an Assistant College Football Coach, and a College Head Coach of Swimming and Track. He served as an Advisor, Instructor and Coach for the Department of Physical Education and Athletics for the United States Department of State in Rome, Italy. He also worked at the American Embassy, United States Department of State as a Physical Education and Sports Specialist in Beirut, Lebanon, where he conducted Physical Education and Sports Clinics, and proposed a revision of the Physical Education and Curriculum for the schools in Makassed and served as an Advisor and Basketball Coach for Club Homenetment of Beirut.

He is survived by his brother, Stanley Bernstein, sister-in-law Catherine Rowlands; niece Amy Forman and nephew, Gary Bernstein.

A Funeral Service will be held today, Thurs., July 24, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope St., Providence. Burial will follow at Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Rd., Warwick. Shiva will be private. The family was assisted with the arrangements by SUGARMAN-SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
