Mrs. McGowan, Ann Marie, Andy & Tom,
Mr. McGowan was a great man and I have many fond memories of him from the many hours I spent in your home. I remember him hitting 3 point shots in your back yard (before there were 3 pointers) and hitting us the highest fly balls I've ever seen (to this day)! He always made those around him feel good. My condolences & God Bless you all!

I am very saddened to learn that Andy recently passed away.I was lucky to have had an opportunity to talk to him last spring when he received an award from the Rhode Island Athletic Directors Association.
I coached in the Warwick system when Andy was Athletic Director. Not only was he by far the best Athletic Director I ever worked for he was also a class person and a joy to be around. He always did his bet to help in any way possible.
I didn't see Andy much after he retired but always tried to keep track of his activities.
Andy was a great man in every respect and will be sorely missed .

Coach McGowan had the great gift of inspiring confidence and urgency in equal measure. I had the good fortune to play for him briefly in 1966 and have never forgotten the subtle lessons he taught. I am one of hundreds who have been touched by his gentle power.
Godspeed Coach.

Just as Tara lit candles for her poppy from far away in Peru, I light one here for his peace. Poppy was the kind of grandpa that gives that title such big meaning. I am grateful that he was there to be so proud of my best friend & wish comfort to his wonderful family*

Emmett and I were so saddened to see the notice of Andy's death. He was always such a good man, a fine gentleman. I remember with a strong sense of togetherness all those long ago good time we shared as couples.
Andy always had the warmest smile, and was so genuine.
We pray that you deep faith will sustain you during theses hard times.
We will be unable to attend Andy's service as a member of our family has died and the funeral is also on Saturday. You will be in our prayers Jean. We will for strength as you move forward. Your shared love was so real and it showed.

My condolences to Mr. McGowan's family. I had Mr. McGowan for history at Pilgrim High School for the 1967-68 school year, and though I was not a great student of history, I loved being in his class. I was also a basketball cheerleader the following year, so was able to spend a lot of time with him and the basketball team. He was a kind, dedicated, and wonderful man and teacher, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
