BARTOLOMEO LONARDO Obituary

LONARDO, BARTOLOMEO P. SR., 'BART' 74, of Leander St., Providence, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Frances (Capece) Lonardo. Bart was a jewelry manufacturer and was the owner of the former Lonardo, Inc. on Manton Ave. in Providence before retiring. For many years Bart was known as an active supporter of Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society and The Impossible Dream. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Men's Society, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and M.J.S.A. Bart was also a scratch golfer with two aces.

He was the devoted father of William Sr., Bart Jr., Michael and Paul Lonardo and Rosemarie Minutelli; loving grandfather of William II, Bart II, Joseph, Anthony, Michael II, Matthew, Rebecca and Heather; and dear brother of Loretta Andreozzi, Elaine Iannucci, William and Robert Lonardo and the late Josephine Ferrante and Dolores DiSimone.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Saturday at 8:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew's Church, Laurel Hill Ave., Providence at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. VISITING HOURS FRIDAY 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Impossible Dream, 575 Centerville Rd., Warwick, RI 02886. Bart was a kind and caring man. I never heard a cross word come out of his mouth. He will be greatly missed by a lot of people who have been touched by his many acts of kindness. I am one of them.
