I had Miss Barber as a teacher in 1968, she was an inspiring teacher, formidable yet kind. She was very demanding and we all did our very best to please her, and in the end learned a great deal! If only there were more like her, the world would be a better place. Jump rope contests, chess and the banjo were just a few of the many things I'll never forget about her.

Miss Barber was a legendary figure in my early life. Nearly everything that I have learned about respect of elders and good manners came from Miss Barber. I remember vividly Miss Barber requiring all of her students to say "excuse me" as we passed her in the doorway. In her "strictness" students felt safe and secure. Rest in Peace, Miss Barber, and thank you for the gift of your life.

Ms. Barber,
Thanks for some of my life's lessons and you were a great 3rd grade school teacher at Wakefield Elementary (the old wooden school). We all loved it when you played your banjo.
You'll always be remembered.
