Almost ten years my friend. Still thinking of you.

October 6, 2014

Upon attempting to find Dave on this day to schedule some skiing this winter I learned of his passing. I worked for Dave at the gym for a few years and it was there that I got to know him well. It was only pure luck that when I moved to NH, he did also. I was fortunate enough to be able stay in contact with him over the years. He was close enough that we could get together from time to time but today I find great sorrow. Today I learn I lost a friend and apologize that I didn't get a chance to hang out and talk baseball and shoot the breeze before your time was up. RIP Dave. Thank you for everything you did for me!!! I am who I am today in part because you extended an opportunity to a kid out of college.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Dutra family as I have just learned of David's passing. I had the privilege of playing baseball with David at PSC and will be forever grateful to him for his help in adjusting to the commitment and work ethic it took to play college baseball and what it meant to be a good teammate. He was a very respected leader to his younger, impressionable teammates and I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

I have just read of David's passing. My sincere condolences to the Dutra family. I had the honor and priveledge to room with David on spring baseball trips while at Plymouth State. David was a tremendous person and an outstanding player. David taught me during that time how important it was to play the game hard and give 100% everyday. He motivated everyone around him. We had alot of great times during these trips, and David's sense of humor was always a big part of that. When you leave college it becomes difficult to stay connected, I will always regret not staying in touch with David. The times we had and his friendship will always bring good memories. RIP Dute

Bun -
There hasn't been a week that has gone by in the past 27 years that I haven't thought of you. I still love you, and I always will. I am so sorry for any sadness and hurt I caused. I always hoped for the best for you and wanted you to be happy. I'm sorry I was never able to tell you in person how much you still mean to me. I never knew what I had until I lost you. Rest peacefully.

Deepest sympathy to the Dutra family. As a parent, I loved to sit down with Coach Dutra and listen to him talk about baseball. He had a special love for the game. Not only the game, but for his players, who he often talked about, all in a good way. We will miss him greatly and think of him often.

Brian,Jo,Chris and Jen, Words cannot express our deep sympathy for your loss. He will still live on in your hearts forever.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
