He was a first class Damage controlman and I was in one of the Damage control "A"classes that he taught. I was the Class Leader, so I got to interact with him, he was a model first class petty officer and a real stand up guy. God Bless him

Dennis was my mentor, friend, and shipmate. We crossed paths a few times through our Coast Guard career's. When I worked for him onboard CGC Sassafras, he changed my mind from being an Engineman to a Damage Controlman. He had a Chief's combo cap emblem up in our shop with the word's, "Can Do". I came across it last night. And heard of him going home this morning. I still have his 1st Class crows he gave me when he made Chief. I wore them for 10 years. Fair wind's and following sea's, my brother!
