OMG. So sorry to hear about Mr. DeSilva's passing. I had him for homeroom in 7th and 8th grade in 1982 - 1984, then as my algebra teacher in 9th grade. He was a tough, but very fair teacher.
RIP, Mr. D.

I was very sorry when I heard that my friend Ed DeSilva had past away. He was a mentor to me when I first began teaching and as a fledging administrator. He provided encouragement and guidance when I succeeded him as the Director of the West Warwick-Coventry Head Start Program. He also was a mentor when I became his assistant principal at J.F. deering Hunior High School. On a personal level, Eddie and I got together frequently and skied throughout New England, Montreal, and Quebec. We worked hard, but we also laughed a lot, particularly when we crewed with our friend Kenny on our Tuesday sailingevenings during the summer (when we knew little or nothing about sailing). In recent years our paths led in different directions. However, When we would get together on a occasion each year, we always laughed. I will miss Eddie, he was one of a kind and he was my friend.

Loved and respected the man. He was always the first in the fight and instilled resolve in all he influenced. Thomas Marsocci (one of the people he inspired)

Coach DeSilva, West Warwick has lost a great one..... You will always be fondly remembered by the hundreds of students and athletes that you inspired and guided over the years... Your drive, spirit and will to win will always be cherished. May you find happiness and peace.
