ELIZABETH ZAMBARANO Obituary

ZAMBARANO, ELIZABETH ANNE (MITCHELL), 83, of Jackson, California, passed away August 11th.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Ubaldo and Edna (Branner) Zambarano. Following the completion of his medical residency in Detroit, Dr. Zambarano and his family returned to their home in Providence where he became a prominent physician, for whom Zambarano State Hospital is named.

After graduation from Classical High School, Elizabeth worked for Gladding's Department Store in the Advertising Department. Later, she became a high fashion model in the New York Garment District. On May 25, 1962 she married Thomas Mitchell, a retired U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel and Utility Marketing Executive in Portuguese Bend, California at the Wayfarer's Chapel, an all glass Church overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In 1984, upon retirement, they moved to Sutter Creek, California in a small ranch at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a site of the California Gold Rush.

She is survived by a cousin, Kathy Spargo of Newport and two nephews, James Barone of New York and Jeffery Barone of Missouri. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and a sister, Joyce Barone.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Arrangements by PONTARELLI-MARINO.
