Frank DiMaio Obituary

DiMAIO, FRANK JOHN, 88, of Citrus Springs FL, formerly of Cranston passed away September 16, 2010 in Ocala, FL. He was the beloved husband for 61 years of Helen (Kanelos) DiMaio.

Providence a son of the late Giacomo and Francesca

(Scola)

DiMaio.

Mr. DiMaio was an inspector for the Department of Transportation State of R.I. before retiring, he and his wife were the former owners of Helen's New York System. Mr. DiMaio was a former member of the Young Pannese Social Club, the Providence Elks and the M.S.B.U. of Citrus Springs FL. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.

He is survived by two sons; Frank DiMaio of Toronto, Canada and James J. DiMaio and his wife Marie-Elaina of South Kingstown. Brother of Mary Barbieri and Anna O'Malley both of Providence and the late Alessandro "Sam", Vito, James and Benjamin DiMaio. Also survived by 5 grandchildren.

His funeral is Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service at 9:30 a.m. in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Ave. Cranston RI 02920. Burial with Military Honors will follow in R.I. Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church. www.WoodlawnGattone.com

Dearest Jim, Laina, Frankie & Helen, Frank will always be remembered as how he made us laugh, as teenagers, with many years to follow. I loved him dearly, and my memories of him will never be forgotten. My sincerest condolences and prayers to you all and Franks grandchildren. Especially Jess, who wedding is a few weeks away, he will be sorely missed at such a wonderful occasion.
