To the family of Jimmy Allen. I too think of you often. I remember the tears my Wife and I shed upon learning of this terrible tradgedy. My Wife worked with you and I worked with you @ Smiths Restaurant all those years ago.
Heaven was ready for you and hopefully will be ready for me when my time comes.

Dear Jimmy,
It's now 6 years since that horrible night that took you from us. They say that time heals all wounds; that may be so in some cases, but not in this instance. The wound that we suffered as a result of that terrible night will never be properly healed and it shouldn't be. We not only lost a valiant officer, but we lost a wonderful man, father, husband, son, brother and friend.
I think of you often. I miss your smile. I miss the times we shared at the FOP Club and the New York System. As long as I shall live I will always remember you and shall never forget that what you gave us that night - your life - is something that all officers offer up during each and every tour of duty regardless of where they patrol.
I know you are at the right hand of the Father and that you are watching over us. I pray that one day we shall be reunited as long, lost but never forgotten friends. God Bless you Jimmy and your wonderful family.

For the last three years there has been an empty place in our lives. Today, as a gaze upon the mass card for your funeral, I realize that we were most fortunate to have had the pleasure to know you. As the years go by, I also know that we can never forget you. You were a great friend and brother in brown. When I periodically return to Rhode Island, I always make certain to stop by your grave and offer up my prayers. I wrote a tribute to you and sent it to the police department. It is my hope that one day it will be placed next to your name within the building.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Allen, Danny and John:
I was so saddened to hear of your loss of Jimmy. It seems like only yesterday that all of us used to hang out on the corner of Klondike and Herschel having fun. I was in Florida with my aunt Peggy Ross when all this happened. Another person who was flying down to meet us is a nurse at Fatima. She called us to let us know that a police detective was killed, and when she said Jimmy's name, at first I didn't believe that it could be the same Jimmy. I still have difficulty believing it. I know I haven't seen any of your family in quite a while, but when I think of all the good times I had growing up, Danny, Jimmy and John always come to mind. Again, please accept my condolences. Your family will always be remembered in my prayers. Sincerely, Peggy Zolkos

I am so sorry for your loss of Jimmy. I was in Florida when it all happened....Mom called me crying and so did my brother when it was announced. I felt like I lost a brother when I heard the news. Dear Mrs. Allen, Jennifer, and Caitlyn,
I am the Bakery Team Leader at Whole Foods Market on Waterman Street. I often worked with your husband and Dad at nights, and I am sure you know how highly regarded he was by all of us at Whole Foods. He was so kind and quiet, yet we all felt safe having him with us, knowing he was a great police officer.
Jimmy always asked us for hot water for his tea around 7:30 each night he worked with us. If we were busy helping customers, he would stand patiently with his cup and wait for us to have a chance to get him hot water. The last night we worked together, Jimmy and I stood outside talking about lawn mowers for about ten minutes. He gave me pointers on where to have mine serviced.
Jimmy was a great guy. I am so sorry for your loss, and I am still in shock that he is no longer with us. He had a dangerous job, and the city is safer due to his tremendous contribution.
I wish your family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Mrs. Allen and daughters, please accept my sympathy for your loss. From what I have seen this past week and read about this man, your husband and their dad, he is a wonderful person. His life was full and now is with our Lord. The sad part is that he went too soon. It appears that he did not suffer, it seems that you may hurt for a while. As they say, time helps us heal. I pray for you and your family and know that all your memories of him will make your life meaninful. May I say that he is buried close to my Mom who passed away on March 17th. My dad and mom (Tom and Mary Cabana) grew up with and knew Jimmy's Mom and Dad. Always remember that we can talk to them and miss them whenever we need to. Loving someone never goes away. He'll always be in your thoughts and in your heart. He was at peace with you and he is now at peace with Him. Bless you all - take care - from myself and the Cabana family.

The overwhelming number of people from near and far who attended the funeral is a true testiment to what a wonderful person James Allen was. As, I did not know him it is always a horrible loss to over come when someone who is a contributing member to our society, wonderful family man and dedicated to his job is taken from his family, and friends tragically, and senselessly. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Allen family and those who knew him.

As a teen I remember hanging out in the New York System with my friends and feeling safe because Lloyd Allen was on duty and would check up on us. I remember Jimmy quietly bagging my groceries at the Star Market,(before he was a cop, of course). Then I remember feeling proud when Jimmy became an officer...someone I went to St Theresa's School with. I remember how quiet, shy and gentle Jimmy was. I remember seeing him in Ray's Laundry,a gentle smile on his face.(Lorraine is my sister). I remember just a short time ago seeing him in Walt's Roast Beef. He showed me pictures of his daughters as he proudly talked of what good little dancers they were. I remember feeling happy for Jimmy that he was so content in his life as a father and police officer. Jimmy, you lived such a modest, humble life, I don't think you realized how many lives you have touched. May you rest in peace with our Lord, and may God watch over your family...I will remember...Proudly,
