Mary and Family,
I was most saddened by the fact that I did not hear until it was too late to say goodbye to Jim and to meet the family. I just heard yesterday on Block Island. Many people don't know of the Red Baron's huge Block Island Family, and his legendary impact on the Island. I have so many great memories of you both on the Island, even when you were both single. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jim all over again in the legal community and his smile and Santa-Claus laughter will remain eternal. The value of life is in the people you get to know. I miss him deeply. Dwell on the good memories to get through this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working for Jim for 15 years. I miss so much his smiles, jokes, and calm and thoughtful demeanor. Jim was a very hard worker, and a great leader. He had a way of entering the room and making it better with a smile, a joke, or just by showing his warmth and kindness. The Clark Family is in my thoughts and prayers. May you find strength and comfort during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by Jim's struggle and eventual passing. I was caught completely by surprise, as Jim was very private about such matters, and apparently only a few people in our Travelers Staff Counsel organization knew anything about what he was going through. I always enjoyed the times when Jim and I would discuss a matter or otherwise interact. He was always pleasant and professional. I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with Jim, and I will miss him. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Jim will be missed by everyone he met; he immediately made a powerful impression. He was an excellent lawyer, a manager who cared deeply about his people, a family man who revered his wife and family, and a man who made and had many great and lasting friendships. I was fortunate to have many great times with him, most recently in June. Those memories---like so many with and of Jim--will remain with me forever. We will all miss him deeply. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Jim was a great person with a great perspective on life. He was a credit to the legal profession in a time when the Bar needs more people like him. Always fair and decent. Its tough to lose people like him so early.
