When my dying day comes ill take courage knowing ill see my friend once more..hear his laugh..feel his strong arm around my shoulder.I take comfort knowing hes not gone but only waiting for the people who loved him. Tears dry.Memory fades to shadows of what once was.So every day ill keep my friends strength ...his loyalty..and the love of that mighty heart in my words deeds hopes and prayers. I wont say goodbye. Only until we meet again. All my prayers to his family and friends.

Jim was one of the first guys I met at Chariho Middle School in the 7th grade. Never disparaging, always confident and positive, Jimmy always spread these traits when he entered a room. Miss u, buddy.

It was over a decade ago when I first met Jimmy. He was my best friend's stepdad so I'd see him all the time, ever since second grade. To me he was that special blend of authority, mentor, and friend. I hope he knew how much his good attitude and his pushing me to be more outgoing really shaped who I am today starting college. The many fond experiences I'd had with you will always be remembered. Rest in peace Jimmy, and keep having fun in the next life.

Jim, Linda, Kate, Matthew and Ian,

I am so sorry for your loss, as Jim is no longer living among us here in this life.

I recall worrying so much about Jim when he was in the service. And before that, how much I enjoyed our rides to the bus stop on the cold dark mornings when I was on my way to school at URI and offered him a ride.

You guys were my first friends in my forest home and my memories of all of you are treasures to me.

You are lovely people: devoted and caring parents who raised wonderful children. Your support of each other is a gift and will be a source of comfort and strength as you go forward in this new version of your lives, without young Jim.

Jim's presence will be felt and his influence will be seen. His light will continue to shine within and through you and those whose lives he touched, to continue to light the world.

Each of you heal in your own time and your own way and have patience with yourselves and each other during this process.

I pray for your comfort and peace and peace for Jim's gentle soul.

God bless all of you,
Deb Knauss

Jim, Linda, Beth, Katie, Matthew, Ian and Emma:

We are so sad that Jimmy passed away much too soon. We all had a happy family celebration on Katie and Mark's wedding day... and the "kids" picture on the stairs will always be special.

I read the following poem and saved it... now I am sharing it with my family during this sad time.. with the hope that our happy memories will remain with us.

Love, Kathy, Mike and Emily

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you... in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too... that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night... ”My day was not in vain." And now I am contented... that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go... from that body to be free, remember you're not going… you're coming here to me.

We knew James for only a short while, as he moved into our rental house last April. We thought of him as a gentle "giant", with a heart of gold. We were impressed with his love of country and all he did for his fellow servicemen. Although his life was cut short, he has made a great impact on alot of people. And for that we are proud that we were able to call him a friend, and thankful that there are people in this world like him.

To Jim's Family,

I had the pleasure of working with Jim at the VA in Prov. and my heart is broken that his wonderful sense of humor and laughter will not be heard again. Jim was bigger than life and loved every minute he lived. His daughter was the love of his life, his horses, friends, patients, all benifited from having known him. Jim was a gentle giant in physical and mental status. His love of all things will be missed by all of us at the VA. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times.

Peace,
