JOSEPHINE LAURO Obituary
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Pelligrino and Angelina (Armenti) DeSimone. Josephine was a social worker for many years until her retirement. She was also an active volunteer in her community and held a Masters in Adult Education.
She was the loving mother of David Iavarone of West Warwick and the late Lori Brouillard. Josephine was the devoted grandmother of Jamie and Erik Brouillard and Michael Iavarone all of West Warwick. She was also the sister of Mary Lapati and Anthony DeSimone of West Warwick, Matthew and Ralph DeSimone of Cranston, John DeSimone of Providence and the late Steven and Carmino DeSimone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 and Roger Williams Medical Center, 825 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, R.I. 02908. My condolences are with all of Jo's family at this time. I met Jo in 1991 working for the same organization and she proved to be one of the most positive, funniest, loving and caring friends I've ever known. Our get-togethers over these years provided many laughs as well as insightful conversations. She will be deeply deeply missed.

My condolences to all the family.
I still cannot fathom the passing of Josie. My mind keeps going over the many times we shared together since childhood. The times that were fun,crazy and sometimes sad. Her memory will stay with me forever and I am sure I will think of her constantly. Her bravery during her illness was remarkable. I didn't have a chance to say goodby, but I am saying it now. Josephine was such a kind and friendly neighbor!! Her bright smile and wave "Hello" will be sorely missed. She had a way of always making you feel special. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family as such a fine person has left us too soon. Will miss you Jo!!!
