Josephine Shread Obituary

SHREAD, JOSEPHINE V. (FLEMING)
87, formerly from Coventry, Rhode Island, died December 7, 2016 at The Wentworth in Las Vegas, Nevada. Josephine, the beloved wife of Raymond J. Shread for 67 years, died peacefully surrounded by her family. She lost her battle with Alzheimer's after eight years. She spent most of her life in Rhode Island, but also lived in Louisiana, before moving to North Las Vegas in 2008.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of John and Mary Fleming. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Matzek of Hiram, Ohio and Beatrice Deal of Elberta, Alabama.She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard, Raymond, John, and Patrick, and her sisters Katherine Schwartz, Mary Hill, Irene Michael, and Eleanor Follett.
In addition to her husband Raymond, Josephine is survived by a daughter Irene Anderson and her husband Wayne of North Las Vegas, Nevada; a son Richard Shread and his wife Beverly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and a son Donald Shread and his wife Susie of Austin,Texas. They also are survived by eight grandchildren, Jeremy Nunes of Warwick, RI, Jessica Nunes of Coventry, RI, Gregory Nunes of Blackstone MA, Brian Nunes of Greenwell Springs, LA, Andy Shread of Baton Rouge, LA, Mary Margaret Overby of Covington, LA, Tyler Shread and Collin Shread of Austin, TX. She also had six great grandchildren, Brandon, Michaela, Solie, Manny, Rylee, and Hawkins.
Both Josephine and her husband worked for B. A. Ballou Co, in Rhode Island. She worked in accounts receivable for 27 years. They were active members of St. John and Paul Church in Coventry, RI and over the years they ran many functions for the Church as well as being moderators for the CYO. Their social life and their friends revolved around St. John and Paul Church.
A memorial service was held on December 10, 2016 in the chapel on the campus of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Her burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Greenwich, RI at a later date. Please visit www.palmmortuary.com to sign the guest book and view a video of Josephine's life.
