Katharina Howard RN

HOWARD, KATHARINA 'KITTY' (MODERN) RN, 84, of Halifax Drive, Warwick, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at home. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Howard.

Born in Vienna, Austria she was a daughter of the late Friedenreich and Margarete (Modern) Modern.

Mrs. Howard was a Registered Nurse at Rhode Island Hospital for three years before retiring in 1952. She previously worked in hospitals in England during and after WW II. She was a master bridge player and an avid bowler and skier. She was a strong supporter of the Native American causes. Mrs. Howard came to the United States in 1950 and resided at her present address for the past thirteen years.

She is survived by her children Beverly M. Dias, of Fairhaven, MA and Attorney Edwin H. Howard and his wife Kim, of Luenburg, MA. Mrs. Howard was the grandmother of Tiffany M. Dias, of Providence, Edwin H. Howard II and Erin K. Howard, both of Luenburg, MA. She was the sister of Elisabeth M. DeSimone, of Narragansett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday 6-8 P.M. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rotary International, c/o Bonville & Howard, 154 Prichard Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
